Your First Visit

What to Expect:

In the next few slides we are going to walk you through an initial visit just like you will experience when you come see us here at Hutchison Chiropractic Center. Plan on spending between a half hour to an hour with us on your first visit. Each following visit will be very quick, but at Hutchison Chiropractic Center, we pride ourselves on being extra thorough so that we make sure you’re getting the best possible care.

  • Step 1: Upon entering our office you will be greeted by our friendly office staff and after you sign in will be given some paperwork to fill out about your current health concern (to speed up this process, please download our “New Patient Forms” and our "Privacy Policy" and print off the necessary paperwork, fill it out and bring it with you to your first visit).
  • Step 2: After you finish filling out all the necessary paperwork, your Doctor will personally sit down with you, take a very detailed history on your condition and answer any questions you may have. It doesn’t take a major accident to cause serious injury to your spine and nervous system so your Doctor of Chiropractic will talk to you about different events in your life that could have helped cause the problem you’re now experiencing.
  • Step 3: When your Doctor is satisfied they have received all the important information that she needs, one of our staff members will lead you back and your Doctor will take any spinal X-rays they may need to provide the very best possible care for your spine. Your health is very important to us, as it is to you, so we would never guess with your health.
  • Step 4: After your Doctor of Chiropractic has finished developing your films, she will perform an in depth analysis of your x-rays for you and explain in detail anything that may be contributing to your current health problem.
  • Step 5: As soon as your Doctor has finished explaining everything she found on your x-rays and has answered all of the questions you will have, she will perform a Thermographic Examination of your spine using an instrument called a Nervoscope to detect areas of nerve pressure along your spine. Again, we NEVER guess when it comes to your health and the health of your family.
  • Step 6: Now it is time for your Chiropractic Adjustment!! Piecing together all the information your Doctor has received from your history, x-rays, and Thermographic Examination, she will perform a very gently, very specific spinal adjustment to begin the correction of any areas of nerve pressure.

The adjustment is centered on only adjusting areas of the spine that have been found to have nerve pressure and NEED to be adjusted. Your Doctor will only adjust those areas she feels are true problem areas and will leave the rest of your spine alone.

What Should I Expect to Feel After My First Adjustment?

When subluxations occur in your spine, they cause an area to become Hypomobile (to get stuck). Over time the muscles and ligaments will become tight in that area as your body tries to protect itself. So sometimes, just like you begin a new exercise program, you can become sore following an adjustment as your body adapts to the changes that begin to occur. A lot of people never experience any soreness at all, but if you do, it’s totally normal. Just remember to ice the area for no more than 20 minutes when you get home and that will help decrease any swelling you have in that area and lessen any soreness you may experience due to your first adjustment.

Many Chiropractic patients receive instant relief from an adjustment, however, that is not a guarantee that you will respond the same way. Every person’s body is very unique and responds differently. Depending on the nature of your condition or injury it could take some time for your body to totally reverse your problem and heal itself.

On your 2nd visit your Doctor will provide a brief report for you after studying your case. On your 3rd visit your Doctor will present a thorough report of finding and a personalized plan of action for you that she feel will best meet your health needs. She will show you other ways to help your body heal quicker such as diet, nutrition, and exercises. She will also give you a good idea of how long she feel it will take to totally correct your health problem and get your body back to its 100%.

The most important thing is to be patient, keep your appointments, follow your Doctor’s recommendations, and ask any questions you have along the way.

At Hutchison Chiropractic Center our goal is your goal: To help you body function and feel the best it possible can as fast as we possible can.
